She is currently studying at Texas State University under Utah Hamrick, Tito Carrillo, Randy Zimmerman, Hank Hehmsoth, and Carter Arrington.

She performs at many venues and private events anywhere from Georgetown to Austin to San Antonio. If not performing at a gig, you can catch her playing at local jams including the Monday night Elephant Room Jazz Jam, the Tuesday night Hi-Hat Public House Jazz Jam hosted by Jacob Wise, and Thursday nights at The Root Cellar Jazz Jam in San Marcos.

During her time at Austin Community College, Mercedes began and hosted the first weekly school jam sessions with the help of her professors. It proved to be a great success in bringing more people together who were interested in jazz and learning to improvise at the community college level. Graduating from ACC, she hopes to leave a lasting legacy and influence others to continue what she began as the community there grows.

She is aspiring to be among the great jazz bassist in Austin. Hoping to bring high quality jazz to central Texas venues. She is always looking for new opportunities to play with and learn from new musicians. Mercedes is an innovator and is looking for ways to bring more musicians together in safe and comfortable setting to allow for equal expression and to make connections in the jazz community.
